Q.  Why should a customer hire a provider like you?

A.  Our initial consultation is always at no charge and without further obligation. We can provide computer and technology support  on-site, via phone or over the Internet.

A.  How many years of experience have you had in this area of work? Can you give me a  complete written estimate for the work that is be proposed? Do you have any references that I can talk to about your past work?  What is it you like best about the service you provide?

A.  Helping people.
Technology is responsible for much productivity in our society, but also much anger and frustration. There is nothing we enjoy more than relieving the pain a customer is experiencing due to their misbehaving technology. Seeing them to get back to work and in a good mood is one of the perks of our job!


Q.  What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What’s your answer?

A.  Should I get a new computer?

There is no one-size fits all answer for this one. The answer can be very different for business computers versus personal computers. We take the time to understand how the computer is being used and the real costs of upgrading to a new computer in each case. Only after discussing the issues with a customer will the correct answer be reached.


Q.  How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A.  Computersmith, L.L.C. was started in 2000. I started it after working 10 years as a network administrator for a company with 50+ computers, several file servers and two offices. Since so many coworkers, colleagues, friends would ask me for my advice on computer matters, I decided to start my consulting business.  It has been a pleasure growing the business and establishing many long-term partnerships and friendships since the year 2000!


Q.  How do you charge for your services?

A.  There is no charge for estimates or an initial consultation. We bill in 15 minute increments and we don’t charge for single incident phone calls or help sessions over the Internet less than 15 minutes long. For on-site work we charge for one hour of labor minimum and possibly a trip charge depending on location. Q. Do you provide pro bono services to charitable organizations?

A. Yes! We provide ongoing computer services for local non-profit organizations at no cost to them. Projects range from refurbishing donated computers to providing daily computer support for their office staff and office IT equipment.
